Mel Garner

After leaving school in 1965 I completed an electrical apprenticeship with GPO Telephones. I continued to work for them through their name changes to BT, both locally and Nationally until 1988 when I changed jobs to manage telecommunications projects Internationally from an office in Central London. After nearly 8 years of daily commuting I took voluntary redundancy and left BT in 1995. I returned to college to update all of my electrical skills and later that year set up MG Electrical Services. I was accepted as a qualified electrical company under Part P, with the NICEIC, for domestic electrical work when this was introduced and followed this several years later with full approval for all types of electrical work.

Matt Garner

I completed my electrical apprenticeship in 1994 after leaving Montsaye School in Rothwell. I continued in the industry for the next few years but gradually moved into computer cabling. After completing a large IT project for a Northampton firm, they offered me a job within their IT department. 5 years later I moved to a large multi national organisation as Network Manager. This job took me all over the world overseeing IT installations. In 2008 and with my first child on the way, I decided to update my qualifications and join my Dad. More recently, I have completed further training in areas such as CCTV, security alarms and fire protection. I now have two adorable boys, a dog and 6 chickens… never a dull moment!
